Executive Summary
Markets spend 70% of their lifespan compressing. We dive into the mechanics of Bollinger squeezes, abnormal volume deltas, and live WebSocket telemetry.
The Physics of Price Compression
Every veteran trader knows John Bollinger's cardinal rule: volatility is cyclical. Periods of extreme volatility are followed by periods of quiet compression, and protracted periods of quiet compression are inevitably punctuated by explosive, violent volatility expansion.
The amateur trader spends all their energy chasing candles once they have already expanded by 8% or 10%. By the time retail tweets about a breakout, the favorable risk-to-reward ratio has completely evaporated.
Our Market Event Radar was specifically engineered to monitor Binance Spot WebSockets and flag the coil before the spring unloads.
Decoding the Radar Alert Types
When you run the Market Event Radar in a background browser tab or alongside the dashboard, you will observe four primary signal triggers:
1. Bollinger Band Squeeze (BBS)
This triggers when the distance between the upper and lower 20-period 2-standard-deviation bands collapses to the lowest 10th percentile of its 120-period historical range.
- What this means: Institutional market makers are absorbing liquidity in an extremely tight range without pushing price. Resting limit orders are stacked on both flanks.
- Desk action: Do not enter market orders yet. Set alert triggers 0.4% above and below the band boundaries.
2. Abnormal Volume Spikes (3x+ Rolling Baseline)
Raw volume spikes alone can be deceiving; a large liquidation candle can produce a massive spike that leaves behind a trap. The Radar calculates the Taker Buy-to-Sell Delta across 1-minute and 5-minute aggregation buckets.
- If volume is >300% of the 20-period moving average AND delta is positive (>62% buyer initiated), institutions are aggressively hitting the ask.
3. Momentum Divergence (Bullish / Bearish)
When price prints a lower low over 14 candles but the aggregate Power Score forms a distinctly higher low, energy is building beneath the surface. This frequently precedes clean V-shape reversals.
4. Liquidity Void Engulfing
Fast impulsive candle bodies that swallow the preceding 3 candles with almost zero upper or lower wick. These indicate that resting bids or asks were wiped clean by market swept orders.

Execution Checklist for Radar Users
- Keep Audio Alerts Enabled: When you hear the radar alert chime, check the pair and the timeframe immediately.
- Verify Multi-Timeframe Alignment: If a 15-minute squeeze breaks upward while the 4-hour Power Score is below 35, treat it as a temporary liquidity grab or scalp rather than a macro swing trade.
- Define Risk Before Clicking: Place the invalidation stop directly at the opposite boundary of the consolidation box. If the squeeze was 1.2% wide, your risk is capped at 1.2%. If the expansion is 4% to 6%, you are locking in a 3:1 to 5:1 reward-to-risk ratio.
